One of the problems I mention in my book is "Politically Correct Generals". Now what I see in Todays Honolulu Star Advertiser is an article about General Petraeus policy for our troops engagement in battle in Afghanistan and I quote from the paper.
"The US commander in Afghanistan, army General David Petraeus has renewed orders to American troops to refrain from calling in artillery or Air Power when battling taliban forces unless they're certain that no civilians are present." After all, if he isn't politically correct he wouldn't be a General. It appears we haven't learned a thing since losing the first 2 wars we ever lost, both Korea and Vietnam. The politicians should leave the fighting to the Generals and not force them to be politically correct in order to advance through the ranks, particularly to the rank of General.
Apparently they feel that sacrificing a few of our soldiers is more important than a few civilians, who may or may not be aiding the enemy. No wonder many parents want to send their kids to Canada.
